The mission of the Sargeant Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is to increase and facilitate parent/guardian involvement in Sargeant School. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organized for the purpose of supporting the education of children by fostering relationships among the school, parents and teachers. Our club conducts fundraising throughout the year to fund supplemental curriculum, technology, assemblies, teacher/staff support, and many other things. We also plan fun and entertaining events for our school community!
Sargeant PTC is made up of dedicated volunteers who believe family involvement improves student educational experience and outcomes. Board members are elected as positions open and per the PTC bylaws.

- Fall Harvest Festival: Kristen Fritts is the Harvest Festival Specialist and has done it for years but sadly, 2024 will be her last. We need to find someone to work with her this year that would be willing to take it over in 2025. This event comes up quickly in October so we are looking for people right now! Volunteers to help coordinate vendors, coordinate games, sell tickets before and during the event, and set up the games on the day of the festival. Kristin Fritts [email protected]
- Fun Run: The Fun Run is our main fundraiser and is 100% managed by the PTC. Every dollar donated will directly benefit Sargeant students. Our goal for this year is to raise $30,000, which will be used to fund field trips, add shade structures to the playground, new books in the library, and support other exciting PTC programs. Betty Wright and Lindsey Olsen are the leads for Fun Run but are definitely looking for volunteers. Betty Wright [email protected] Lindsey Olsen [email protected]
- Art Docent: Kelsey Vallas is the Lead Art Docent and she coordinates volunteers at the beginning of the year, conducts new docent orientation, orders supplies through the school secretary, and answers questions as needed throughout the school year. Each classroom requires at least one volunteer to help with the projects. Volunteers bring art into the classroom and training is provided. No art experience necessary. Note: RCSD allocates funds to support Art Docent at all elementary schools in the district. PTC’s job is to supply volunteers for teacher classrooms. *Commitment of 1.5 hours per month- schedule coordinated with the classroom teacher. [email protected]
- Book Fair: Volunteer to help us during our Spring Book Fair! Last year was a huge success but we need more help for this year! Tina Smith is the Lead for Book Fair and is seeking a co-chair which will help coordinate the fair schedule, contract with scholastic, overall planning with PTC for pushing information out to families and logistics leading up to the event.
Additional volunteers can help with set-up/tear down, work a cash register, help students find books and support our student preview day where students come for fair orientation to kick off the fair. The fair runs for 4 days in late March/April and funds are then spent over the summer based on teacher wants (wish lists). Tina Smith [email protected]
- Dine and Donate: Erika Sizemore is the committee head and would love your help! She organizes with local eateries for Dine and Donate fundraisers where money is raised and given directly back to Sargeant. We are seeking volunteers to make a poster (once a month) and help stand outside before and after school to advertise for our events. Erika Sizemore [email protected]
- **Family STEAM Event/Stargazing: Stargazing was back last year and was an amazing event! Jen Doyle is the committee head but would like volunteers to help plan and organize this event. We coordinate with the Sacramento Valley Astronomical Society (SVAS) where they set up telescopes outside in the evening and families can look at stars and planets. We are currently working on dates in the fall so we would like volunteers to help get this off the ground. Jen Doyle [email protected] (Approximately 5 hours total in planning)
- **Family Skate Night: A family night out at Roller King. *Help to plan a family skate night by coordinating with Roller King and working to advertise/sell tickets for the event. (Approximately 3 hours total in planning)
- **Family Dance: Help plan and organize a Family Dance in the Spring. *Help to plan the family dance (pick a date, work on theme, decor, dj, etc). (Approximately 5+ hours)
- **Field Day: Work with the PE teachers to coordinate volunteers and snacks/drinks for the volunteers on field day (in the spring). *Purchase water/snacks for the volunteers, and help the PE teachers organize the volunteers on the day of. (Approximately 2 hours total in planning)
- **Hospitality: Assist with holiday lunch for teachers (winter), and Teacher Appreciation Week (spring) which means we feed the teachers/staff and make them feel special! We are looking for a couple volunteers to help organize and plan this event. *It includes set up/clean up, collecting donations, prepping for appreciation celebrations.
- Spirit Wear: We are always looking for new Sargeant Swag and need a couple volunteers to take this task on. (clothing, magnets, socks, stickers, etc.) The Spirit Wear committee would promote sale of spirit wear at specified school events and keep track of money and disbursement of orders turned into office. *Help organize/distribute spirit wear once it arrives. Michelle Clark [email protected]
- Yearbook: Erica Martin and Tina Smith are the only people on the committee. They need help in collecting pictures from teachers and parents. The committee will create the design and layout. Send out school wide flyers to order yearbooks, collect money and keep track of pre-orders.
